Long Distance Relationship

My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for over a year. It's not long distance like a few hours away or even on the other side of the country. It's long distance like other side of the world! I am in NYC and he has been in Taiwan for the past 8 months, here let me show you...
Photobucket
We both work in the film industry, he is a production designer and I am a costume designer, we actually met working on a project together! He has been in Taiwan working on a film and I have been in NY working on my own projects. Additionally he also designs furniture and interior spaces, here is one of the stores he designed in Beijing, along with the furniture in it! Isn't he talented ? His store is called Lost and Found and if you are ever in Beijing definitely stop by!
Photobucket
I visited him in Beijing this past year and we had a wonderful time running around together!

He will be returning to the states in 27 days and I am so excited, the only catch is I am leaving town a week before he returns to work on a film! But luckily the film is only shooting a few hours away from NYC so he'll be able to visit on the weekends :)

  5. Awww, how sweet!! I didn't know your boyfriend was in Taiwan - I was studying there for six months last year, and I had to do long distance with my boyfriend in that time too. It was tough, but it made us stronger too :) I'm sure that will be the same with you & your bf! So happy for you that the wait is over! :)

  17. This is so wonderful. I really admire you and your boyfriend working through this. It is tough and rewarding. Rewarding, not only in the love that comes from it, but in watching how bold you can be to take the unconventional path.

I hope to visit that store some day, it looks really cozy!!!

  23. This is too adorable. If you two ever get married, you would have the most artistically inclined children in the world. I love the interior design of that space - and I always thought the only creative men in the world were all gay. I know my boyfriend has no idea how to decorate an interior space, or even arrange his bedroom. And it's amazing how you guys hold up despite the distance - it's really cute!

  27. long distance relationships are SOOO hard. my husband and i were long distance (within the US) for about a year and a half before got married. i remember looking forward to his visits and feeling so sad when they were over. this was well before the days of skype and online chats or even text messaging (i realize that makes me seem old, but we married young at 23 and 24 and now i'm 36). here's to those 27 days flying by so you'll see him soon.

  57. Oh that must be hard. I understand, one of my best friends dates a guy who lives in Hong Kong (we live in Paris) for one year and a half.
Will you live together soon? I mean, is it the plan?
I was lucky, my boyfriend was living abroad too, but just in Germany (he is german), so it was 7hours or something. Now he moved to Paris :)
You too look very cute, and I have to say your boyfriend is damn good, the shop he did is so beautiful!
    Congratulations :)

  63. With my german boyfriend? Not really a long distance because we didn't have any jet lag, which was kind of practicle. But yes we didn't see each other very often because I have a lot of work and it takes 8hours from my place to his place...
We were together for like 8months when he left everything (his studies, his family and his country) to live with me here. What decided him was that I searched for studies for him. Things he couldn't do in Germany. So now he is learning french and he will hopefully go to a cinema university next year.
I am sure as soon as his projects will end you will get back together. :) Work is important of course, but so much less than relationships. As soon as you don't live in the streets it's great! No need to have the perfect job on the other side of the earth!
